Dana A. Brigham
General President
Background Information
General President Dana A. Brigham started in the elevator
industry in October 1966. He was employed as a probationary
helper by Horner Elevator Company where he worked in the construction
department until the 1967 strike. At the conclusion of the
strike, Dana went to work for Armor Elevator Company in construction.
In 1968, he left the trade for a two year term with U.S. Marine
Corps serving our country in Vietnam. Upon completion of his
tour of duty in 1970, he returned to Armor where he worked
in maintenance and modernization until 1972. During his employ
at Armor Elevator in 1971, he became a card mechanic and stayed
with Armor until 1972. From 1972 to 1975, Dana was employed
by Westinghouse in construction, and in 1975 Dana worked at
Westinghouse in maintenance.
Dana was first elected an officer of Local 10 in 1975. Local
10 then elected him as one of their Business Representatives
in 1985. Dana became Local 10s Business Manager in 1991
and was also elected to serve concurrently on the General
Executive Board of the International Union of Elevator Constructors
as the Seventh (7th) Vice President. In 1996, he was re-elected
as Second (2nd) Vice President of the IUEC where he held that
office until the Executive Board elected him in February 1998
to fill the unexpired term of Edward C. Sullivan as the Assistant
to the General President.
Dana served the International Union of Elevator Constructors
in that capacity until July 29, 2000 when, because of the
vacancy created by Edward C. Sullivans election to the
position of President of the Building and Construction Trades
Department, the IUEC General Executive Board convened and
unanimously elected Brother Brigham to serve as the General
President of the International Union of Elevator Constructors.
